About OpenClaw
OpenClaw is an open-source AI assistant created by Peter Steinberger, written in TypeScript and released under the MIT license. It was previously called Clawdbot and Moltbot and is now managed by the OpenClaw Foundation, a US nonprofit organization.
According to its official repository, OpenClaw runs on the user's own hardware and answers in the channels people already use, such as Discord, iMessage, Slack, Teams, Telegram and WhatsApp, with native apps for macOS, iOS, Android, Windows and Linux. Its state, memory and credentials stay on the user's machine, and models such as Claude, Codex or local models work as swappable plugins. The same Gateway can run OpenClaw as a personal assistant on a laptop or as a shared deployment for a team.
