About GPT-6.1 Sol
GPT-6.1 Sol is an upgrade to GPT-6 Sol that OpenAI announced at DevDay 2026, on September 29, 2026. OpenAI says it nearly matches GPT-6 Astra on agentic coding, computer use and professional work at one-fifth of Astra's standard input and output token prices. In OpenAI's tests, it matched GPT-6 Astra on the DeepSWE v1.1 software-engineering benchmark at roughly one-fifth of the cost, and cut the share of responses with a factual error at low reasoning effort from 11.4% to 7.7% compared with GPT-6 Sol.
It is available to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, but not yet in Chat, and through the API as gpt-6.1-sol. OpenAI also announced a GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast version, with up to 8 times faster token generation in Codex.
