About OpenAI Dots
Dots are always-on AI agents that OpenAI announced on September 29, 2026, at its DevDay 2026 developer conference in San Francisco. According to OpenAI, each dot is powered by GPT-6 Astra, has its own cloud computer and browser, learns from feedback over time and can work toward the user's goals 24 hours a day, connecting to more than 4,000 apps through plugins.
To get started, OpenAI says the user creates the first dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or in a desktop browser, gives it a name, connects apps and lets it introduce itself; after this setup, the dot can also be reached in the ChatGPT mobile app. The first dot is included in the Pro and Business Premium plans at no extra cost, and conversations with it do not count toward ChatGPT usage limits. Tasks the dot starts in Codex or ChatGPT Work count toward those limits as usual.
