About OpenAI Dots
OpenAI describes Dots as always-on agents that get to know what matters to the user and work on their behalf. They were announced on September 29, 2026. Today, a user starts with one primary dot, can give it a name and make it their own; OpenAI says that over time it envisions teams of dots working together, and that users will be able to add more dots and scale each one's speed or monthly workload.
OpenAI's examples include a developer's dot that turns customer feedback into tested fixes and pull requests, a dot that revises launch materials when a product's scope changes, and a scientist's dot that reruns analyses as new data arrives.
