About OpenAI Dots

Dots are a new kind of agent in ChatGPT, announced by OpenAI on September 29, 2026. Users can message or call their dot in ChatGPT on desktop, web and mobile, and also message it in Slack and Microsoft Teams, with texting coming soon according to OpenAI. The dot carries context across all these channels and can message the user with progress, questions or decisions.

To get started, OpenAI says users create their first dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or a desktop browser, connect their apps and let the dot introduce itself; after setup, it can also be reached from the ChatGPT mobile app.
