OpenAI unveiled Dots, its always-on AI agents, on September 29, 2026. Besides the personal dot each user can create, OpenAI previewed "specialist dots": agents that a company sets up with their own identity, credentials and access to the systems they need, to take on well-defined responsibilities. OpenAI says it is starting with focused enterprise pilots, building on internal tests in procurement, invoice processing, email marketing, customer support and commercial contracting.

OpenAI is also working with Microsoft to integrate specialist dots with the governance and security controls of Microsoft Agent 365, so businesses can manage them with the Microsoft tools they already use.
